Miami Beach Design Review Board to Weigh Six Projects at Sept. 11 Meeting

Miami Beach's Design Review Board will convene September 11, 2026, at 9 a.m. for a hybrid meeting held in the Commission Chambers and via Zoom webinar, taking up a slate of applications ranging from continuances to a modification of a previously approved board order.

The board, chaired by Adam Meshberg with Mayra D. Buttacavoli serving as vice-chair, will hear from members Gabriel Paez, Akil Lester, Laura Lewin, Jessica Mindich and Andres Asion. Rogelio Madan serves as the city's liaison to the board, with Alejandro Garavito, Gabriela Freitas and Miriam Herrera providing support staff.

After attendance is taken and City Attorney updates are delivered, including a memorandum dated for the meeting, the board will swear in members of the public and approve minutes from its July 9 after-action report.

The agenda includes one request for continuance or withdrawal: DRB26-1165 at 7928 Byron Avenue. One open and previously continued item remains on the table, DRB25-1099 at 935 2nd Street.

Two applications seek modifications to previously approved board orders: DRB26-1179 at 1701 Sunset Harbour Drive, and DRB26-1187 — also known by its earlier case numbers DRB24-0999 and DRB18-0355 — at 1901 Convention Center Drive.

A single new application will come before the board: DRB23-0916, proposing changes at 2502 Prairie Avenue.

The board will also review discussion items and progress reports before adjourning. Its next meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2026.

All applications listed on the agenda were filed with the Planning Department for review pursuant to Sections 118-252 and 118-71 of the city's Land Development Regulations. Residents may attend the meeting in person, send a representative, or submit written comments to the Design Review Board c/o the Planning Department, 1700 Convention Center Drive, 2nd Floor, Miami Beach, Florida 33139. City officials note that any item on the agenda may be continued without additional legal notice, and residents can check the status of continued items by calling the Planning Department. Those wishing to appeal a board decision are advised that they must arrange for a verbatim record of the proceedings, including all testimony and evidence presented.
