Papers are closing. Newsrooms are shrinking. Towns are losing the people who kept them informed. We want to make sure that journalism remains viable in those places. We want to create a platform with zero friction for the users of the platform, whether that's starting a publication, writing a story, or receiving subscriptions and support from readers. We stay flexible and change course quickly, and we use AI where it helps us build faster and keep costs down.
We're two people, an investor and a programmer, with business behind us in other industries and aspiring journalists now, learning the craft by doing it and by meeting journalists across the country, at conventions and in their own towns, and learning from them.
Adam has run Hotel ProjectLeads, a market-intelligence business for hotel construction and renovation, since 2002. He holds a civil engineering degree from Ohio University and an MBA from Nova Southeastern. His grandmother read the Troy Daily News, her hometown paper since 1909; it prints under another name now, two days a week.
Ryan grew up in small towns with their own papers, Carlsbad, New Mexico and Brownwood, Texas, then chased college baseball through Georgetown, Lubbock and Borger, Texas and Durant, Oklahoma. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, found coding during his MBA at the University of New Mexico, and has built software ever since.
